Young People: DO YOU CARE?

YOUNG PEOPLE, not just 18-24 but ALL YOUNG PEOPLE: we are an easy target for the tories because they misinterpret our apathy for laziness.

They think we don’t care about the homeless people on the streets.
They think we don’t care about the injustices and unethical wars waged across the world and the refugee crisis.
They think we don’t care that Theresa May continually voted against LGBTQ rights, human rights, and continues to sell weapons to Saudi Arabia.
They think we don’t care about the disabled, the elderly, the vulnerable, and underprivileged minorities in our country.
They think we don’t care about zero-hour contracts and benefit reductions.
They think we don’t care about the NHS and our junior doctors and nurses who suffer and struggle every day.
They think we don’t care about our public services that we take advantage of every day.
They think we don’t care about racism, homophobia, and discrimination.
They think we don’t care for the arts that continue to be crippled and crunched because they think we probably don’t want to be artists, musicians, or performers.
They think we don’t care that students get punished for wanting further education and embark upon a lifetime of debt at just 18 years old.
They think we don’t care about single parents who will struggle more than they ever have done before.
They think we don’t care about financial stability if we were unfortunate enough for one or BOTH our parents to die.
They think we don’t care about small businesses being destroyed by large corporations and damaging our small towns and villages.
They think we don’t care that our wages get axed while the wealthy enjoy reduced tax.
They think we don’t care about the environment that WE will live in after they’ve destroyed it.
They think we don’t care that people are being criminalised for their poverty or drug use.
They think we probably don’t care about ever owning a house.
They think we don’t care that a quarter of a million children are being plunged into poverty in THIS COUNTRY – the 6th richest in the world.

This is bigger than Brexit. This is OUR FUTURE. Not our grandparents, or our parents, but ours and our children to come.

The outcome of this election will decide if our paths will open up to our dreams and ambitions, or if they will continue to be stifled and ignored.

They think we don’t care because young voters have been on the decline from the 1990s, where 60% voted to a mere 40% in 2015.

So the Tories have continued to target us.

But we DO care. And let’s show them how much we care by voting them OUT in June. Let’s show them that we will not be underestimated anymore.

Because our votes can make ALL the difference. EVERY. SINGLE. VOTE COUNTS.

Whether or not you agree with Jeremy Corbyn I hope that we can all agree that the above cannot go on anymore. The Lib Dems are eager to strike a coalition deal with the Tories so a vote for them is a vote for the Conservatives, echoing back to the 2010 election outcome. And look where that got us.

Put your ego aside and do what’s best. People are dying and struggling whether you have seen it with your own eyes or not.

Do yourselves and your country a favour. Vote for Labour.
